You are a qualified doctor. How did you end up being an actor?

After completing my medical degree in homeopathy and then my internship, I worked in a hospital and then started my own practice. Along with my studies, I used to participate in cultural events; so, acting and singing was always my passion. At first, I faced a lot of opposition at home, still I didn’t lose hope.

What is that one role closest to your heart and why?

The role closest to my heart is from the show Saibaba. Many things happened to me while I was doing the show. I was supposed to essay that character for two months, but then it got extended. I conceived my younger son while working on the show and then lost my father.

Whom do you consider your acting guru?

I don’t have any acting guru as such because I have not learnt acting. I never took any tips on the art form from anyone. I am actually self-made, someone who learnt on the job.

Any plans of taking your love for singing further?

Yes, singing is my passion. I love music, and I run a banner named Music Mantra. I have many singers working with me. We have a big group; we do auditorium shoots, stage shows etc.

Tell us about your role in Chota Pandit…

I play the character of a typical Indian mother in the show. It’s the character of a Thakurain, who is firm and sober, but she wants things to be done her way. Devi Singh is the name of my character, and Thakur’s character is played by Manish Khanna ji.

How comfortable are you working amid the pandemic?

By the grace of God, till now everyone is doing well. I was too stressed during that period and to release the tension, I made so many dishes; I tried different recipes during the lockdown. Starting work during such times isn’t easy, but I believe we all need to find our way.

How do you continue practicing medicine?

At home, in my family and even on the sets also, if anyone is suffering from anything, I’m always ready to help. I have not just suggested medicines but also tests to them! So, all these things are going on but my passion is acting, so I’m happy being able to do that.
