What have been the landmarks of your career?

I come from a non-industry background. You can say I’m an ‘outsider’. I had always dreamt of making my place in the entertainment industry. I think when I bagged my first project Class of 2020 that really changed my career graph. I learnt a lot as an actor and the show did very well for itself, so that was a major game-changer.

Did you always want to be an actor?

As a kid I was fascinated by the entertainment industry. I loved to perform but I never thought I’d step into this field until I decided to shift to Mumbai from Australia.

Has there been a situation when you thought of going back to your hometown?

Initially, it is always tough when you shift to a new country. I didn’t know much about Mumbai or the people, so initially there were times where I grew homesick and really didn’t know how to go ahead but obviously all of that changed with time.

Which character from which show made a huge impact on your career?

I think Zoey from Class of 2020 will always remain very special to me. She’s very close to my heart. I can relate to her in many ways. She’s kind hearted, soft, sweet and full of innocence and honesty. I truly enjoyed playing her!

Have you done any acting course?

I have done many acting workshops, including one with Neeraj Kabi. Yes, they help to some extent but I feel the real learning happens on the sets. But one good thing about doing a workshop is that it opens you up as an actor so you aren’t shy around people!

What are your strengths as an actor?

I would say my strength is that I know my limitations and where I lack. So, I know where I need to work extra hard. My strength is that I’m very hard working.

What kind of role do you want to do in the future?

Honestly, you can call it clichéd but I’ve grown up watching Bollywood movies and SRK has been my all-time favourite. I would love to do a romantic drama like a DDLJ or a KKHH!

Is it still difficult to get work when there is a plethora of mediums?

Absolutely. There is so much competition here and it is growing each day. So, one has to work really hard to bag a role as there are just too many options available. It’s easy to get replaced or side-lined if you aren’t on your toes.

What advice would you like to give to people who want to become actors?

I think the most important thing is that you should get into this field only if you are passionate about the craft.
