Punjabi film Oye Bhole Oye starring Jagjeet Sandhu and Irwin Meet Kaur in lead roles is set to release on February 16. Jagjeet, who was last seen in Tufang, Sufna and Pataal Lok among others, is set to play a middle-class village boy in the film which is touted to be a satirical take on the ongoing issues in Punjab due to globalisation.

Jagjeet says, “Bhola is undoubtedly the closest character to my heart as I played a character named Bhola in my debut movie. It gave me my identity. I play a middle-class village boy with big dreams but who doesn’t know how to fulfil them. Every single person who has seen the rural life can relate to my role.”

Sharing about what prompted him to take up this film, he says, “I have always felt that cinema is such a great and strong medium to connect with the masses and convey your ideas. The level of creativity and freshness in this film pulled me towards it.” Highlighting the film’s subject, he says, “This film delves into the ground-level impact of globalisation on everyday life. It satirises contemporary issues like land acquisition and construction projects, highlighting their ripple effects on the

ordinary people.”

Written by Gurpreet Bhullar and directed by Varinder Ramgharia, Oye Bhole Oye is a joint collaboration of KV Dhillon’s Geet MP3 and Jagjeet Sandhu Films.
