Jatin Sial who plays an important role in ‘Potluck’, talks about the series
What comes to your mind when you think of the word Potluck?
Potluck is getting together as a family, collectively coming back to your family on the dining table with loads of love.
The series has a great cast. How was your experience of working with them?
We have shot for this series in the midst of the pandemic in a hotel in Gurgaon. We created a bio-bubble and finished our shoot in one go. The experience was really enjoyable. As an actor, I believe the show must go on.
Kittu Gidwani is back after a long gap with this series. How is your camaraderie with her?
Kittu and I play married couple in the series. Besides being compatible, like any other couple they also have tiffs. She is an experienced actor and our scenes have come across very well.
You are the grandson of the great Prithviraj Kapoor. What have you learnt from the famous family?
My mother Urmila was very close to her father, Prithviraj Kapoor. I have heard a lot of stories about him from my mother. She was a homemaker all her life. To me the legacy of the Kapoor family is rich. The inspiration I draw from the legacy is huge.
How will you define yourself as an actor?
I feel the collaboration between an actor and his director is very important. I go with the director’s conviction and also put my own inputs for the role. Till date, they have been accepted well.
How do you feel the content of television has changed over the years?
Right now content has been diluted. Long back when I started doing TV, a lot of weekly shows used to be aired. People used to shoot the episodes in a very patient way. There were no time constraints. After daily soaps took over, time has played a huge role.
Will you do television now?
Television shows are not currently on my agenda. Though I am doing a lot of commercials. I am also part of the second season of Mismatched.
What kind of content do you want to watch on OTT?
Refreshing content, which will entertain in this tough time of the pandemic?
What is that one role you want to play now?
Govind Shastri in Potluck is one character I always wanted to play. The role allowed me to showcase my versatility and now if I get a chance, I would love to play a historical character.
What is your process of unwinding?
A long walk is a big stress-buster for me. I am also into reading books and listening to soft music.
