Actor Guneet Sharma is back with a new Zee Punjabi show Tere Dil Vich Rehen De. He talks about it & more

Did you always want to become an actor?

No, I haven’t had the passion for becoming an actor since childhood. I just wanted to see myself on TV someday though and used to live with that dream.

Did you take any training in acting?

I have taken training for acting in Mumbai. I got trained by Balaji Productions and they were very professional, as they taught me everything from a scratch. I am truly grateful to them.

What is the first thing you do after bagging a new role?

I basically take the detailed brief about my role from the makers. After that I generally look around for such a personality in my circle and try to copy their traits. I try my level best to get into the role as much as I can.

What is your most challenging role till date?

It was a character named Huda, which I played for a SAB TV show named Tera Yaar Hu Main. It was a negative character and in the Haryanvi dialect. I had never played such a role in the past.

Tell us more about the Punjabi in you…

Being a Punjabi, I am very fond of food items. I love eating sweets a lot. My favourite dish is rajma-chawal. Apart from food, I am also very fond of traditional culture. Old Punjabi culture fills my heart with so much joy and happiness.

You are in Mumbai now. What do you miss about Jalandhar?

I miss my family a lot. Apart from that I miss the home-cooked food as I am a big-time foodie.

Are there things you want to do other than acting?

There’s a lot of charity work that I want to do apart from acting. I want to soon open a charitable hospital for the people in Punjab and then in every city of India.

Where do you see your career in five years from now?

I see myself coming up as a very successful and dynamic actor in the next five years. I wish to achieve excellence in all segments of my career.

What is your strength as an actor?

Having the confidence, energy and dedication to perform, and the ability to memorise lines.
