Life in the age of metro
Gurnaaz Kaur
From being co-stars to friends and finally lovers, Vatsal Sheth and Ishita Dutta became man and wife in a quiet and personal setting. But their love story is a popular one in the industry. It’s because their bond of friendship hasn’t changed, if at all, it has grown stronger and more beautiful.
Perfect timing
Vatsal Our love story began just after my show, Baazigar, ended. We used to catch up and meet up often and slowly and gradually love happened.
Ishita Vatsal and I became good friends while we were shooting. The show got over but we kept meeting and fell in love.
Wedding bells
Vatsal I used to tease her that I live in Juhu and she lives in Lokhandwala and there was terrible traffic because of the metro. I told her once, “Metro ka kaam bohat hai and tujhe milne aata hu toh bohat time lagta hai, toh isse acha hai shaadi kar lete hain.”
Ishita We were dating for less than a year and one day Vatsal just asked me if I wanted to get married and I immediately said yes. Within a few months, we got married.
Life is the usual
Vatsal There isn’t much of a change. Just that we live together now. But it has been quite similar.
Ishita Not much has changed; it’s all pretty much the same.
Friendly communion
Vatsal Living together is great fun. It’s a new phase of life.
Ishita I always tell him it’s like living with a roommate. He is more of a friend.
Together is fun
Vatsal Whenever we both have time, we catch up on movies, TV shows. We go for dinners and chat up over coffee. We also travel together.
Ishita It is important for us to spend time without friends and families and just talk.
No changes please
Vatsal I really don’t wish to change anything about her and I would not want her to expect me to change. It’s just that I like it the way it is and I love her the way she is.
Ishita There is nothing that I want to change about him and I am sure he will say the same thing. Nobody is perfect. Obviously, there are a lot of things one can change in themselves, but I like him the way he is.
It gets annoying
Vatsal She clicks a lot of pictures and makes me click a lot of pictures and sometimes it gets annoying. I take good pictures, so she is always like ‘please Vatty more pictures’.
Ishita Nothing really annoys me. Something that really inspires me is the way he works. He is very punctual. He is very hard working and I like that. He is very thoughtful.
Couple goals
Vatsal To be happy. And ensure that we both are happy and healthy.
Ishita We just want to be ourselves and enjoy life.
Wow factor
Vatsal She is very understanding.
Ishita Vatsal is very funny, reserved, thoughtful, sweet, and affectionate. He really takes care of me and I feel quite protected with him around. He is one person I can talk to about anything. He is more of my friend. He is all of these things and I really love him.
To make a marriage work
Vatsal I just think you have to make it happen and make it work. Make sure you understand each other well and that’s how you can make a marriage work.
Ishita There is no right answer to say how marriage works. Be you, go with your instincts, be honest and just go with the flow.
Secret spills out
Vatsal I guess it will be understanding and caring. For me, there should not be too many changes before and after marriage, just like I was or she was and we are still that way.
Ishita There is no correct answer. I still insist on the fact that one should be honest. Talk to your partner. Be very open about what you like or don’t like.
