Live like there’s no tomorrow, says actor Harjinder Singh

How did you get into acting?

I have always been passionate about acting but wasn’t getting the right opportunity. However, in 2015, I was offered a movie that we shot in Bangkok. Almost 60 per cent of the shoot was complete but for some reason the movie got shelved.

Do you have any formal training in acting?

I’ve taken formal training in acting for about a year. I have learnt from two teachers— Sabyasachi Debuda and Shoorvir Tyagi. One of my teachers has a theatre background. I got an opportunity to learn from him.

You have done a film, titled I am Banni. Can you tell us about your role in it?

Initially, I was not very interested in the film because they offered me the role of a friend. It is basically a story of three friends who go to Bhuj to make documentaries. There they meet a little girl who is not allowed to study. The story revolves around the three guys helping her receive education.

How did you get the role in the series, Inspector Avinash?

Two years back I met Neeraj Pathak sir. Back then, this project was in the scripting stage. When I met him, he said he has a role in mind for me. I gave the auditions and by God’s grace the makers liked my work and I got the role.

Are you open to Punjabi films and music videos?

Yes absolutely! The boom in Punjabi films and music videos is here to stay and they even have a foreign audience.

How has the pandemic affected your life?

The pandemic has taught me to live and love like there’s no tomorrow.

What are your hobbies?

I like playing cricket. Sometimes I like to listen to Sufi songs.
