Lockdown did not stop Jimmy Sharma from following his regular fitness routine

Actor Jimmy Sharma, started his journey as a model in Punjabi music industry pretty young, at the age of sixteen when there were only two Punjabi channels. He is proud of what he has achieved so far, all thanks to his interest in fitness and nutrition from childhood. While his career started off with music videos, but much before that he had participated and won Junior Mr Ludhiana in 2003 in his hometown. Two of his Bollywood projects, Lover Alert and Rashtriya Rifles: The Secret Strike, which is inspired from Uri attack, are in post production. Coming back to Pollywood, he has also signed a Punjabi movie with single track studio. Jimmy has no qualms in doing music videos as half a dozen songs of his released during the lockdown itself.
What does fitness mean to you?
It has become an essential part of my soul quite literally or as I call it ‘rooh di khuraak’. Not many know that I had a major accident before I won the competition of Junior Mr Ludhiana. I believe some way or the other, being fit has given me a new lease of life. I was on complete bed rest for a year.
Lockdown woes
I knew that I will not be able to survive the lockdown if I don’t have basic equipment to train myself. I bought a pair of dumbbells and an exercise bench.
Yoga time
I am a fan of core workout to keep my back and core strong which is most important to maintain healthy physique, but that doesn’t stop me to enjoy free hand exercises. Interestingly, this lockdown has helped me explore yoga because my mother is a yoga expert. Not only, is it effective in building stamina but enhances internal strength. I realised I was more tired while practicing asanas with my mother than doing my routine work out.
Fitness accessories you cannot do without?
I always have floor mat and exercise rope in my car. Also, I make sure I wear branded t-shirt while exercising because all that bending and sweat can make one uncomfortable if not wearing the right outfit.
Diet plan
My diet changes according to the need. While maintaining a shredded look for a shoot routine, I increase my protein intake and lower my carbs intake. Sometimes I also go on a Keto diet and rely on salads before shoots.
When not working out, you enjoy…
Horse riding and swimming. The latter is not going to happen anytime soon because of pandemic.
