Actress Nyrraa M Banerji talks about her new show Rakshabandhan... Rasal Apne Bhai Ki Dhal
It’s quite a different title, Rakshabandhan… Rasal Apne Bhai Ki Dhal. Any special thoughts behind it?
It’s about Rasal, who is the protector and the driver of the show. We have always associated Rakshabandhan with brother being the protector, here it’s the sister. I completely relate to this as I used to tie Rakhi to all my family members. My grandparents were my best friends. I have a younger brother. He tied Rakhi to me as well and promised to protect me.
What is so unique about the show?
Everyone is playing a unique role, and contributes perfectly to the storyline. I’m playing Chakori whose only aim is to be rich. I’m called the looteri dulhan. My character has many shades. I wear multiple disguises and add the perfect masala to the show.
The show has an authentic Rajasthani flavour. What do you have to say about your character’s look?
We had to achieve a particular look with eye make-up. There is a tattoo on my neck and my hand. When I wear multiple disguises, it always takes me two hours. The old woman’s look was unique. So was the khilone wali (toy seller) look. My current look is my favourite. I look like a lovely Thakurain.
How much do you relate to your character?
I do not relate to my character at all. I enjoy the naughty scenes, but the moment I have to torture Sal, my heart breaks. Every time I see a sad situation happening to Phooli, my heart breaks. However, I’m very lucky that I have a whole gamut of emotions to express.
Who’s your favourite co-star?
Definitely, Nishant (Singh Malkani) and Rasaal (Hardika Sharma). Nishant is so particular with his expressions. And, I am madly in love with Rasaal.
The show has recently gone on air. How has been the feedback?
I think we are getting amazing responses. People are loving the drama.
How is it working with Yash and Mamta Patnaik?
The Patnaiks are a gem couple. I am so glad they have considered me for the role.
What is the best compliment you have got for your role?
That I can make people hate me and that I look hot.
Talking about the current pandemic, what have you learnt from it?
That humanity is important. Saving money is important and keeping healthy is very important. Having compassion for people around is the most important thing.
