Aakash Ahuja, who is playing the lead role in ‘Thapki Pyar Ki 2’ on Colors, talks about the show and his journey so far
What attracted you to Thapki Pyar Ki?
Primarily the script and the story of the show, and of course my character. The way it has been written is amazing.
Can you tell us more about your character and look?
I am playing a young successful businessman, who runs a music label in his mother’s name. He shares a very unusual relationship with his mother, which lacks love from his mother’s side. That’s the reason he spends most of his time at work. The look is young and fresh, and I hope viewers will like it.
A sequel or remake of a popular show always comes with a pressure to do well. What are your views?
It’s a sequel for the audience but for me it’s a new show. I have not seen the first season and have started on a fresh note. I don’t get stressed at work because it hampers my performance.
How comfortable are you working in the pandemic?
We know how many people have lost their jobs and livelihood. I am just grateful that I get to work.
When it comes to acting, who is your inspiration and why?
One name that will always be a constant is Shah Rukh Khan. The first film that I saw was Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. Then there is Neeraj Kabi, whom I met in the initial years and also trained under him. I will be ever grateful to him.
If not an actor, what would you have been and why?
Ever since I have become an actor, I could not think of anything but acting. But yes, if not acting I would have been a musician or a karate teacher.
Destiny, luck or hard work, what has influenced your career?
I would say hard work, because it can make you sustain in your career. Destiny and luck can give you highs and lows in life.
What is ‘me’ time for you?
My ‘me’ time keeps changing; sometimes I play the guitar or just look out of my window. Being surrounded with animals is also my favourite ‘me’ time or else I also go for a long run.
Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?
I want to see myself as a better human being and a great performer.
