‘My parents had sex and I'm here’: Oscar winner Kaluuya in speech; mom's reaction goes viral

British Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya’s mother stole the show with her viral reaction on award ceremony night

For British actor, Sunday night was one that all film stars dream of.

The 32-year-old won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his turn as Fred Hampton in “Judas and the Black Messiah”.

While it was a memorable moment for Kaluuya, the star of the night appeared his mother Damalie Namusoke who stole the show with her reaction.

The reaction wasn’t for his winning the award, but for his speech as Kaluuya thanked his parents for doing their part by welcoming him into the world 32 years ago.

“My mom, my dad, they had sex, it’s amazing!” Kaluuya said on stage at Union Station in Los Angeles. “I’m here! I’m so happy to be alive.”

As Kaluuya spoke, the camera turned to Namusoke, who seemed to ask, “What is he talking about?” His sister who accompanied her mother as the duo watched the show from a theatre in their native London put her head in her hands.
