Shiny Doshi, of Pandya Store-fame, talks about the importance of social media in an actor’s life & more
What is your take on the social media boom?
Social media is growing, but everything has its own pros and cons. Many times, it happens that when you post a picture you get compliments, but there are also people who post comments that you cannot even discuss it with your friends and family.
What is the role of social media in an actor’s life?
Only on social media can fans know who you really are, who your friends are, people close to you and your daily routine; so, it’s a platform for fans to connect with the actors.
Does social media popularity have any relation to an actor’s talent?
I know so many actors who are great and famous, but are not on social media. I haven’t heard anyone getting a show just because they have a huge fan-following.
Today actors make everything public on social media. What are your views on it?
I don’t think anybody overdoes it. Every person has a personal life, which they don’t share on social media.
Don’t you think social media is an addiction?
I won’t say I am addicted, but I enjoy posting on Instagram. I have been to places with no network coverage. Though I missed it for some time, but I can stay without checking my phone.
Which celebrities do you follow on social media?
Not celebrities as such, I just follow my friends from the industry.
How is it working in the hit show Pandya Store?
When you start a new show, it’s a little difficult initially. You need to bring a character to life, and you need to be careful about the mannerism of the character, but with each episode it became easy. When I used to go to the sets, after seeing the enthusiasm and energy, I would use to go like ‘Ok, I have to perform’, and I really enjoy that.
