Former Bollywood actor Zaira Wasim, renowned for her roles in critically acclaimed films such as “Dangal” and “Secret Superstar”, formally announced her marriage on Friday, sharing intimate photographs from her nikaah ceremony on Instagram. The pictures shared by Wasim, who is best known for portraying young Geeta Phogat in 2016’s “Dangal”, have drawn widespread attention for their simplicity and intimacy.

In the initial photograph, the former actor is seen signing her nikaah nama (marriage contract). The picture highlights her intricate mehendi and a striking statement emerald ring. The second image captures the newlyweds standing together under the night sky, their backs turned to the camera. Wasim was draped in a bright red dupatta with gold embroidery, while her groom wore a cream sherwani. Wasim maintained her characteristic privacy, opting not to reveal the face or name of her husband in the post.

This milestone arrives several years after Wasim’s departure from the film industry. Despite achieving national fame at the age of 16 and receiving the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for “Dangal”, she chose to step away from acting in 2019.

Her decision was driven by religious beliefs. In her 2019 statement, she explained that the industry “interfered with her relationship with religion,” arguing that the profession led her onto a “path of ignorance” and caused her to unconsciously transition out of imaan (faith). Since her retirement, Wasim has maintained a low profile, primarily using social media to share messages related to her faith.

The response to the marriage announcement has been overwhelmingly positive, with fans and followers offering congratulations on her new life chapter.
