Ruchira Singh on playing a prostitute on screen
Ruchira Singh, who is popularly known for her roles in series such as Human, was recently seen on She Season 2. She essayed the role of a prostitute named Yasmin. Talking about playing such a role, the actress says, “I feel gone are the days when actors used to fear getting typecast. Earlier, I used to dread playing such characters and rejected a lot of roles, but later realised that it was a mistake. When I first read the script, I was so sure about playing this character because, as an actor, it’s my responsibility to explore varied characters on screen. For the role of Yasmin, I left no stones unturned.”
She adds, “I am happy that I portrayed this character. On social media there are so many messages of appreciation. I am amazed with the response to my character.”
