What makes Sasuraal Genda Phool popular?
The show redefines joint family dynamics, educates you in terms of values and, most importantly, celebrates love.This show can make you want to be a part of the Kashyap family yourself and bring a smile to your face in the worst of times. That is what makes this show so different from others.
Is it the success of season one or something else that made you say yes to the second season of this show?
Working with the cast and crew of Sasuraal Genda Phool 2 is like working with family and one can never say ‘no’ to family. This was one main reason why I said yes to the show. Secondly, the entire script and storyline of the show are so beautifully written that I agreed to do season two almost immediately.
How will your character of Shailaja be different in this new season?
I would say there is a lot of Shailaja still left in me, as we are quite similar insofar as keeping our families together against all odds is concerned. So, the new twists playing with Shailaja’s poise and ethics will be like a breath of fresh air to watch on screen.
What preparations did you make for your role?
To portray the ‘wiser’ Shailaja, I had to mentally become her! But she hasn’t changed a lot over time so essaying Shailaja once again was like a homecoming for me and not that much of a task to handle.
How is your bond with on-screen son Jay Soni?
We share sweet memories, as we have known each other for quite some time now. He is always looking for a chance to pull my leg and our banter has forever been a part of our shoots.
Do you think season two will also get the same love as the first one?
I am sure! We are working very hard to keep up the entertainment quotient of the show. We can just hope and pray that the viewers accept us with open arms, and continue to support us in this new journey.
How do you manage to keep yourself active and fit?
I am becoming very health-conscious and making sure I follow a good diet. To keep myself going through the day, I practice yoga. I keep myself well-hydrated and eat most of my meals at home.
How comfortable are you shooting in the pandemic?
There is always the thought of getting sick lingering at the back of our minds. But more than scared, we are grateful to be working even in such a dreadful time for the entire industry. The risk is real, but we are taking all the necessary precautions.
