Yash Tonk talks about his new show Kyun Utthe Dil Chhod Aaye
What made you choose this show for a comeback?
The reason for choosing this show is its interesting concept and my character of Vij Kishore Sahni. The role has many layers to it. His relationships with his son and with his wife. He is an innocent person but he’s also very aggressive.
How is this show on Sony Entertainment Television going to be different from the current shows on TV?
We will be showing the era of 1947. I doubt there’s any show right now on TV that’s remotely close to it.
How similar or different is Vij Kishore Sahni from Yash Tonk?
We are completely different because I have a very strong body language. Makers wanted my character to look frustrated, so his one hand is twisted and he has a paunch.
Any special preparations which you had to do?
I’m putting an artificial paunch and it’s not easy to keep it the whole day. And I’ve to walk with a limp. The writers have done a superb job in maintaining the language of that era. And yes, I’ve grown my side-locks because I am wearing a pagri.
Did you watch any movies or shows based in 1947?
No. I strictly wanted to go as per the vision of my writer and director.
