The connecting THREAD
Distant bonding

I am going to miss my sister as she lives in Germany. Rakhi will be celebrated virtually. Every Raksha Bandhan is special. I remember when I was 12 or 13 years old, I got a three-piece suit as gift for Raksha Bandhan. I was so happy.
Missing Delhi days

I don’t have a real sister, my masi’s daughter and bua’s daughter are like sisters to me. During our childhood in Delhi, they would tie rakhis on my wrist. We would have lunch together and eat sweets. Now that I’m in Mumbai, they make it a point to send me a rakhi and tikka every year. I apply the tikka myself. I miss them dearly during Raksha Bandhan.
Together at last

Since my brother lives in Dubai, it’s been often virtual celebrations. But this year, my brother is in India and we get to celebrate in person. For me, this is as epic as it gets. Even though he is younger, Rakhi means that he has to give gifts.
Food and more

Since I’ve been in Mumbai for the past 11-12 years, I haven’t been able to go home during Raksha Bandhan. My sister, Nidhi Goswami Manoja, always sends me a rakhi by post. When it comes to gifts, I know she likes dresses. She also sends me diet foods that I enjoy.
