Vivian Dsena, who is celebrating his birthday today, talks to us about his career and life
It’s your birthday, how are you celebrating?
I will be celebrating at home with my family and close friends. I would like to give myself peace of mind which is priceless.
One fondest memory of your birthday?
When I got a pet dog from my father. I think I was six or seven. I just loved my dog Jimmy,
You have been off screen for some time. When can we see you back on screen?
Whenever any producer thinks that I am fit for a role and they cast me, I am ready to work. I am serious about my career but at the same time, I am choosy too. I don’t repeat myself as an actor.
Talking about your career, when did you get your first acting break?
My first project was Kasam Se. I was there for some other auditions but they liked me for Kasam Se and that’s how I got my first TV show. It was a good learning experience. I got to act with Ram Kapoor, who is a fabulous actor. I got Pyar Ki Ek Kahani after that in which I played a vampire and after that Madhubala.
Madhubala was such a hit. Have the makers ever thought of making a sequel of the show?
That depends on the makers of the show. The show is dubbed in many countries and that is surely a very good thing.
You have been in the TV industry for nearly 14 years. Have you ever thought of venturing into big screen?
I don’t have that big Bollywood dreams. Television has given me a lot of things, from fame, money to stardom. I feel TV is the strongest medium and that’s why even film stars come to TV shows for promotions. I am happy doing TV.
Are you open for OTT?
I have been in talks with many people from the OTT platforms but nothing has been finalised yet. I am not comfortable doing certain scenes and I have been like this right from the beginning. That’s my personal choice. OTT boom is here to stay for sure.
Your name sounds Portuguese. Any connection?
My grandfather was a Portuguese, who stayed back in India. And, my grandmother was a British descent.
If you are given an option to choose from three roles- a romantic hero, a villain, an anti-hero- which role will you choose ?
An anti-hero role because I have never done that one and I would love to do something unusual.
Who is your favourite actress?
I think I was born late. I would love to share screen space with the diva, Rekha. She is an epitome of beauty and grace.
