Watch: Johnny Depp fans want Disney to apologise for using his face as Jack Sparrow in light show

Weeks after Johnny Depp won the defamation suit against his former wife Amber Heard, Disney has used his face back onto its castle in at Disneyland Paris. There are images and videos on social media, which show Johnny’s face as Captain Jack Sparrow in a Pirates of the Caribbean display.
Johnny fans are thrilled to see his face as Jack Sparrow in the light show. Scenes from Pirates of Caribbean film were played on the screen with its theme music being played in the background. But they want Disney to apologise.

It was in 2018 when Amber wrote an article where she called herself a victim of domestic abuse that Disney decided to distance itself from Johnny Depp. Back then Disney production chief Sean Bailey had called it a move ‘to bring in a new energy and vitality’, something that most Johnny Depp fans refused to believe.
In his defamation suit, Johnny had claimed that he lost his prized role as Jack Sparrow among other projects because of Amber’s article. During the recent trial, the actor even said that ‘nothing on this earth’ not even $300 million and a million alpacas’ would bring him back to work in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. He also said, “Two years had gone by of constant worldwide talk about me being this wife-beater. So I’m sure that Disney was trying to cut ties to be safe. The #MeToo movement was in full swing at that point. They didn’t remove my character from the rides. They didn’t stop selling dolls of Captain Jack Sparrow. They didn’t stop selling anything. They just didn’t want there to be something trailing behind me that they’d find.”
Fans look at Disney’s attempt to bring back Johnny in its lightshow as a sign that Johnny maybe brought back in the popular role. Some of them are also demanding an apology from Disney. A fan wrote, “Yeah so @Disney care apologising to Johnny Depp?”

A third one commented, “Maybe it’s a sign…….. Pirates of the Caribbean 6????”. Yet another fan tweeted, “That is beautiful!!! Best thing I’ve seen in ages. Honoring the man and the character he created. He did create that character. Wrote lines, made the walk and the accent. All him. He is a genius. Finally. Now apologize Disney.”
