Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez officially end their engagement

Singer Jennifer Lopez and baseball star Alex Rodriguez have officially ended their relationship. The couple has released a joint statement that read, “We have realised we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so. We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects.” Lopez and Rodriguez said they would largely remain mum about the split out of respect for their children from previous relationships.

The statement further read, “We wish the best for each other and one another’s children. Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support.”

Rodriguez, who sang at US President Joe Biden’s inauguration in January, began dating Lopez in early 2017 and they announced their engagement in March 2019. Last year, the couple had postponed their wedding twice because of the pandemic.
