Pearl V Puri arrested under POCSO
Actor Pearl V Puri of Naagin 3 fame was arrested on June 4 for allegedly raping a minor girl. Sharing details, Sanjay Patil, DCP Zone 2, Mira Bhayander Vasai Virar, said, “The incident is old but the 17-year-old minor victim complained to us along with her mother at the police station and we registered a case under Section 376 (rape) of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Act, 2012.” Since it’s a POCSO case, bail has been denied and the case will be heard in court on June 7. Till then, Pearl will remain in the police custody.
Meanwhile, Pearl’s friends and colleagues from the industry have come forward to show support.
Ekta extends support
Ekta Kapoor expressed support for actor Pearl V. Puri. Ekta says she has voice notes and messages of the alleged victim’s mother claiming that the rape and molestation charges are stories created by her husband in order to keep their child by proving that a working mother cannot take care of a kid. Ekta posted an Instagram picture with Pearl. She wrote a long note stating that the film industry is as safe or as unsafe as any other business. —IANS
