Kharar liquor racket busted: 2 arrested for illegal sale to PG accommodations
In a joint operation with the Kharar police, the Excise Department arrested Rakesh Kumar, alias Micky, the owner of Micky Kitchen, and his accomplice, Krishan, both residents of Kharar, for the illegal sale and supply of liquor to PG accommodations.
Excise officials stated that a raid was conducted on the night of May 22-23, 2024, by a team, along with the Kharar police, at Micky Kitchen on Landran Road, Kharar. During the raid, authorities recovered 67 bottles of IMFL/IFL, 112 bottles, 40 cans, and 35 nips of Beer/RTD of various brands, all labelled “For Sale in UT Chandigarh Only”.
The investigation revealed that Rakesh Kumar, alias Micky, the owner of the chicken shop, was supplying liquor to customers in nearby residential areas and students in PG accommodations, especially after midnight. He allegedly procured the liquor from Chandigarh using his four-wheeler.
An FIR has been registered under Section 61 of the Punjab Excise Act, 1914, and Section 112 of the BNS, relating to petty organised crime, against the two accused, Rakesh Kumar alias Micky and Krishan, according to DSP Kharar Karan Singh Sandhu.
