The MC came to limelight just a month ago when the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) booked its 12 officials, including XEN and SDO and owners of two sanitation companies for a scam of Rs 15.84 crore.

Scams and corruption is not a new thing for the Panipat Municipal Corporation (MC). The MC came to limelight just a month ago when the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) booked its 12 officials, including XEN and SDO and owners of two sanitation companies for a scam of Rs 15.84 crore. However, no official has been arrested or suspended till now. After a few days of this scam, another scam in tendering came to the fore. The MC allotted a tender of Rs 36 lakh to a firm which deposited fake documents —experience letter and turnover certificate — which was revealed during an inquiry by the civic body. However, the Commissioner cancelled the tender and also blacklisted the company owner. Now, the MC is once again in the limelight for a new scam of Rs 4.5 crore in the property tax branch.
