Fake Aadhaar card racket busted, 6 arrested

The Chief Minister’s flying squad has busted a fake identity card racket being run in two shops in Chakkarpur village on the MG road here. Six persons have been nabbed for preparing and selling fake PAN and Aadhaar cards.

The accused include a bank official entrusted with preparation of Aadhaar cards. He used to leave his official machine with others every weekend and they used his silicon thumbprint to run the machine. The fraudsters were banking on CAA-NRC scare among migrants.

The police recovered around 200 fake Aadhaar cards, 930 Aadhaar forms, 1,066 blank Aadhaar cards, scanner, printer, silicon thumbprint and Rs 2 lakh from their possession. The accused were on Saturday produced in a city court, which sent them in five-day police remand.

According to the police Aadhaar and PAN cards were made by preparing fake rent agreements. On the basis of rent agreements, natives of Nepal, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal got Aadhaar cards prepared easily. The accused also prepared PAN cards and driving licences.

The Chief Minister’s flying squad conducted raids on Friday night and arrested the six accused from two shops. They were identified as Chitranjan Yadav (29) and Ashish (24) of Najafgarh in Delhi, Happy Singh (28) and Gurfan Ahemad (28) of Uttar Pradesh, Karan (26) of Nepal and Pawan (26) of Jind.

“The accused revealed that Mahender, working as operator with a rural bank at Alwar in Rajasthan, had access to e-aadhaar. He used to leave his machine and the accused prepared prepared 185 Aadhaar cards in a week,” said Ved Prakash, Sector 29 SHO.

Two members of the racket were still at large. The police were questioning the accused and conducting raids to nab the bank operator and the other accused.

“This is big catch as it is a risk to national security. More than 200 persons are involved and we are seeking action against the property owner who provided them a rent agreement without verification. Our teams are conducting raids and more arrests will be made,” said Chander Mohan, DCP (East).
