The district police today claimed to have busted a gang allegedly involved in preparing fake Aadhaar cards and other documents, which helped persons lodged in jail in drug and other cases get bail. For this work, they were reportedly receiving hefty amounts from the accused.
The police have arrested five persons, including a Nambardar, in the case registered under Sections 319 (2), 318 (4), 336 (2), 336 (3), 338, 340 (2) and 61 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Sadar police station, Dhuri.
SP (Headquarter) Dilpreet Singh today said Gurdeep Singh Nambardar, Surjit Singh, both residents of Kanjhla village, and Tirath Singh, a resident of Ladda village, were arrested on June 16 while Manjinder Singh of Kanjhla village, the kingpin, and Jagseer Singh, also from Ladda, were arrested on June 17. The police had recovered four fake Aadhaar cards from them, he added.
The SP (Headquarter) said the suspects were in police remand and would be produced in court on June 20. He said on the basis of fake documents prepared by the suspects, bail applications of 20 to 25 persons were submitted in the court so far and several of them managed to get bail. He said the police would now initiate action against those who got bail on the basis of fake Aadhaar cards and other documents.
