VP Singh Badnore

The Tribune is truly the voice of the people in the region as over the past 140 years it has witnessed and chronicled the evolution of India as a sovereign state. The British rule and its atrocities, the daring of the freedom fighters, the pain of Partition, the emergence of hope with Independence, the making of a new India and its growth into a global force — this paper has experienced all of it first-hand.

The Tribune upholds the formidable legacy of its visionary founder Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, following the journalistic values and maintaining a balanced, objective and impartial coverage of events. No wonder this paper is among the most respected in the region. As a reader of The Tribune for the past 10 years, I can vouch for the high standard of journalism maintained in its unbiased stance, restraint and temperance. It is amazing that this Grand Old Lady of Punjab has been a trusted news source of five generations in the region.

My congratulations to the team of The Tribune on the 140th anniversary. With its ethos of service to the masses, I am confident that it will achieve many more milestones over the next several years while being a torchbearer of free, fair and fearless journalism.
