Newspaper turns bi-weekly, published every Wednesday and Saturday

January 1898

Newspaper turns tri-weekly, appearing every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday

December 27, 1900

Newspaper becomes a daily, but soon reverts to the tri-weekly mode

1906

The Tribune completes a quarter century; turns a daily on a permanent basis

April 17, 1919

The Tribune’s Editor Kalinath Ray arrested four days after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre

May 7, 1919

The District Magistrate of Lahore serves an order on The Tribune, suspending its publication

May 28, 1919

Kalinath Ray sentenced to two years’ jail term for indictment of Lt Governor Michael O’Dwyer’s policies

July 26, 1919

The Tribune resumes publication after over two months

August 27, 1919

Kalinath Ray released from Lahore Central Jail

Sept 25, 1947

First issue published from Simla after the newspaper’s publication was suspended for 40 days due to Partition

First issue of the newspaper published from Ambala Cantonment office

The Tribune starts functioning from Chandigarh, which becomes its permanent home
