Chandigarh, January 7

The high-level committee set up by the Punjab government to look into the alleged security lapse during the prime minister's Punjab visit has decided to put on hold all its proceedings following directions by the Supreme Court.

The committee headed by Justice Mehtab Singh Gill had issued a questionnaire to the top brass of Punjab Police, including the DGP, and was to scrutinise their response on Friday.

Justice Gill, when contacted, said the apex court had restrained the committees from going ahead. "We will wait for further directions from the Supreme Court," he said.
