This Gujarati family went digital for a ‘roka’ ceremony.

The family used the key feature of this day and age: Video Calling. Since the future bride and groom weren’t physically present at the ceremony, the family video called them and performed the ceremony.

The video, which is doing the rounds on instant messaging apps, shows a Gujarati family conducting the ceremony with two mobile phones kept on wooden stools.

Gifts like jewellery and other ceremony-related items are placed next to the phones.

One mobile phone has a teeka on it while the other one, which shows the future bride, was covered with a traditional dupatta.

The priest and family members were seen gathering near the stools to bless the couple, while others take photos and videos of the ceremony.
