In its advisory, the traffic police highlighted the orders of the Supreme Court that mandates the installation of HSRPs in all new and old vehicles. “Due to the absence of the HSRPs in vehicles, there is an increased chance of these getting stolen or used in any crime…. A specific amount of fees has been fixed by the government to get the HSRPs affixed to any vehicle. If any RWA/ society/ company etc want to install the number plates on their premises, then this facility was also provided,” the advisory read.

Meanwhile, Chander Mohan, DCP (Traffic) said: “The high-security number plate is equipped with a special type of chip that gets all details related to the vehicle owner as soon as it is scanned. Apart from this, it has radium shining at night, which helps the camera record the number even at night. All vehicle owners should get the HSRPs affixed to their vehicles, else they will face penalty.”
