Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday lauded the dedication and professionalism of the J&K Police, stating that their swift action in unearthing and dismantling a pan-India terror module had saved countless lives by preventing a series of planned attacks across the country.

He also expressed grief over the tragic incident at Nowgam police station, where an accidental blast occurred during the sampling of explosive material recovered from the arrested terrorists. Sinha said he had ordered a magisterial probe into the explosion, which left nine people dead and 32 others—mostly police personnel—injured.

“Tragically, we lost brave J&K Police personnel and officials. I express my heartfelt solidarity with the bereaved families. The process of sampling explosives had been ongoing for the past two days. There is no angle of terrorist conspiracy or external interference,” the L-G said.

Sinha made the remarks while speaking at Gurdwara Sant Mela Singh Dastkari Ashram in Jammu, where he attended the Nagar Kirtan organised to commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur.

Addressing the gathering, the L-G recalled the lifelong campaigns and supreme sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the ninth Sikh Guru, who upheld the principles of moral values, righteousness, dignity and religious freedom.

“Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was the embodiment of sacrifice and universal brotherhood, and on this occasion, we must reaffirm our commitment to follow his ideals of peace and harmony,” Sinha said. He added that the sacrifices of the great Sikh Gurus ensured that India’s culture and dignity remained uncompromised.
