1,009 committees to reach out each household in Karnal

After witnessing one Covid death in Karnal, as many as 1,009 micro-level administrative committees have been constituted to reach every household of the district. Of these 1,009 committees, 879 will work in the rural areas, while 130 have been assigned urban area works. There are around 3lakh households in the district.

Members of the committee include ASHA workers, Anganwari workers, and booth-level officers (BLOs). They will inquire about the health of 250-300 households, supply ration, verify forms received from daily wagers for Rs 1,000 per week financial assistance, collect details of the households who require support in terms of medicines, therapists and consultation.

Besides, they will collect the details of individuals who are prima-facie symptomatic and have fever, cough and cold. As per the authorities, it will help in tracing Covid patients of the district speedily as the committee members will have to upload each and every detail online through a Google spreadsheet. They will also coordinate with social organisations, NGOs and volunteers of that locality for effective distribution of ration to needy.

“We have constituted these committees and training will be given from Tuesday. These committees will scan each and every household,” said Nishant Kumar Yadav, Deputy Commissioner.

As many as 111 sector committee have been constituted comprising patwari, gram secretaries, supervisors of women and child development department, and in charges of sub-health centre in each district to supervise the work of unit committees, he said, adding that as many as 15 zonal committees have been formed comprising concerned BDPO in rural areas/secretary MC in urban areas, concerned CDPO and SMO to monitor the works of the sector and unit committees.

At the district level, a district committee headed by the DC and comprising SPs, SDMs, Civil Surgeon, district programme officer of the women and child welfare department and Election Tehsildar, have been formed, he added.

As many as 130 rural and 49 urban committees have been constituted for Karnal block, while 140 committees for rural and 15 for urban areas of Nissing block, 160 committees for rural areas and 15 for urban areas of Gharaunda block, 119 for rural areas and 11 for urban areas of Indri block, 185 for rural area and 20 for urban areas of Assandh, and 145 for rural and 20 for urban areas of Nilokheri have been formed, he said.
