The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court of Nuh on Wednesday granted bail to one of the 12 accused in Tauru DSP Surendra Singh’s murder case. Accused Jabid (alias Billa) had allegedly helped the key accused, dumper driver Sabbir (alias Mittar) to escape to Rajasthan on his bike.

Meanwhile, one of the accused on police remand, has tested Covid positive and has been isolated at a quarantine centre in Al-Afia hospital, Mandi Khera, said police. The accused who was found Covid positive was identified as Asru, alias Assaruddin, a resident of Pachgaon village, who was nabbed by the police five days ago. He was on two days police remand and when the police took him for the medical examination before producing him in court, he was found Covid positive. The cops interrogating him too are worried. According to a senior police officer he has been quarantined at a hospital now.

“Out of the 11 accused, only Shokeen is on two days remand, while other nine are in judicial custody. One has been granted bail and one is in isolation due to Covid. We are conducting raids to nab the remaining accused who has been identified”, said a senior investigating officer of the Nuh police.

Jabid alias Billa, who was granted bail by the CJM court yesterday, is a native of Gandwa village in Alwar district of Rajasthan, was nabbed as the third accused by the police on July 22. The police had taken him on a two-day remand and later, he was sent to judicial custody.

Advocate Tahir Hussain, lawyer of Jabid, moved a bail application in the court of CJM Satish Kumar on Wednesday and the court granted him bail on the same day.

A senior police official said Jabid was an accused under Section 212 of the IPC, which was bailable.

Jabid had given a ride to driver Sabbir on his bike. They first reached the place of Sabbir’s sister at Sare Kalan village and then moved to Gwalta before fleeing to Rajasthan.
