Panipat, August 4
The police have arrested a man for allegedly trafficking liquor from Paonta Sahib to Biha. During investigation it was found that he had ordered a truck of liquor from a Paonta Sahib-based beverage company earlier, too. The accused was identified as Pintu of Vaishali district. He was arrested from Hajipur in Bihar.
Notably, the CIA-3 unit of the district police had nabbed two persons — Subodh and Sachin — with 970 boxes of Indian made foreign liquor in a truck here on July 26. Since they failed to show a valid permit for transporting the liquor they were arrested. During the probe, the accused revealed that they were given Rs 10,000 each for transporting the liquor.
On the same day, a case was also registered by the Sirmaur police on the complaint of a liquor company manager about the disappearance of a truck carrying liquor.
A company employee said, the liquor stock was sent to Bhutan, but disappeared en route. CIA-3 SHO Deepak Kumar said Pintu had been arrested on the disclosure of the two accused drivers, who were arrested on July 26.— TNS
