Kurukshetra, August 3

The police arrested a youth for tearing a page of Guru Granth Sahib at a gurdwara in Ladwa.

Kurukshetra Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Karan Goel said the accused had been identified as Pardeep Singh of Ladwa. He was produced before a court which sent him to judicial custody.

Lohara Gurdwara Singh Sabha president Sucha Singh, in his complaint to the police, said on August 1, at 4.10 am while doing the cleaning service, a woman found a part of Guru Granth Sahib there. During checking, it was found that page 681-682 was missing from Guru Granth Sahib. Following it, CCTV footage was checked and it was found that Pardeep had entered the room and the page was in his hand when he came out. The matter was brought into the knowledge of the SGPC too. A case was registered under Section 295-A of the IPC.
