Haryana reported 200 weekly Covid cases in the past seven days, for which the Health Department tested 1,49,986 samples, making it a positivity rate of 0.13 per cent. During the peak of the second wave of the pandemic, the daily positivity rate was touching 30 per cent.

However, if one looks at the positivity rate of Sunday, 22 people tested positivity, out of 21,248 samples – nearly one in 1,000 samples was found positive for Covid.

During the peak of the second wave of the pandemic in the last week of April and the first fortnight of May this year, the daily positivity rate was touching 30 per cent.

With this, the cumulative positivity rate has also improved a little from 8.41per cent in mid-May to 7.19 per cent now.

While the state was testing nearly 60,000 samples in a day during the peak of the second wave, the average samples have come down to 21,500 now.

While the weekly fresh cases of Covid have dipped to the level of what was being witnessed during the beginning of the pandemic, the weekly deaths have also dipped to 20 this time.

The last time Haryana reported less than 200 new cases in a week was from April 27 to May 3 last year when 146 people tested positive for the virus.

As far as weekly deaths are concerned, the last time less than 20 mortalities were reported was from March 8 to 14 this year when 18 deaths were reported when the second wave was just building up. The cumulative mortality rate in Haryana now stands at 1.25 per cent.

Fifteen out of 22 districts have active cases between 0 to 25. The R Naught value of Covid, or the reproduction rate of the virus, stands stable at 1 for the past six weeks.
