A team of the CM flying squad seized 100 bags of subsidised agriculture grade urea from two trailers in Mandi village of Yamunanagar district.
The consignment was reportedly to be supplied to plywood factories of the district, where it was used to prepare glue.
The squad received information that Rashid of Kansapur village used to supply subsidised agriculture grade urea illegally to plywood factories, and that his men had loaded the urea in a tractor-trailer from the godown of a fertiliser dealer yesterday.
Seeing the squad, the driver of the trailer fled, abandoning the vehicle at Mandi village.
In the presence of Ajay Kumar, SDO, and Harish Panday, Subject Matter Specialist (Agro), the squad seized the urea.
According to information, another trailer was parked at the village. The squad seized 15 bags of urea from it.
Sources said several plywood factories used subsidised urea to prepare glue as the rates of the technical grade urea were very high (about Rs 2,200-Rs 2,400 for a 50-kg bag) compared to agriculture grade (Rs 266 for a 45-kg bag).
Aditya Pratap Dabas, Deputy Director of Agriculture, Yamunanagar, said the urea samples had been sent to a laboratory for examination. A case has been registered.
