The police arrested 11 individuals under a special operation on Thursday for their involvement in cyber-fraud. The operation, conducted under the direction of SP Vijay Pratap Singh, led to the seizure of 12 mobile phones and 15 fake SIM cards from the possession of the accused.
The arrests took place across various locations, including Malab Bai Kachha Rasta, Tauru Valley, Bibipur Turn, Tai village, Ghaseda, Nizampur and Nangli Road. The accused used social media platforms to advertise fraudulent schemes, tricking people into sending money. They also used fake SIM cards to create obscene videos, threatening victims with viral exposure unless they paid extortion money into fake accounts.
The police said eight FIRs have been registered against the accused, adding that they are continuing the investigation.
