1,156 challans issued for drunken driving in Faridabad

The traffic police department has issued 1,156 challans for drunken driving in the district this year.
A spokesperson of the department said 460 challans were issued in July itself. He said as the drive against the violations of traffic rules was on, the focus had been on the infringement of rules connected with driving in a drunken state and overspeeding, which could result in accidents resulting in the loss of lives or injuries.
Penalties
- The penalty for drunken driving includes a challan of Rs 10,000 and suspension of the driving licence (DL) of the accused for a minimum period of three months.
- If anyone drives a vehicle during the suspension of the DL period, the person concerned will not be eligible for staking a claim for insurance in case of an accident.
