12-yr-old Joyita Sihag pens book on dog-human bond
A book written by Joyita Sihag, a 12 year old girl from Sirsa, about dogs has gained massive popularity among animal lovers.
In the book, Sihag imagines the thoughts of dogs, focusing on their loyalty and feelings.
Sihag explains in her book ‘A Dog’s Christmas Memoir’ that dogs think deeply about their owners, and feel sadness when they are separated from them. Through the book, the 12-year-old aims to make people reflect on the unique bond between humans and dogs. Her family has encouraged everyone to read the book, and learn more about dogs’ emotions.Speaking to The Tribune, Sihag said she is a Class VIII student at Lawrence School, Sanawar, in the Kasauli district of Himachal Pradesh.
She was given the opportunity to write the book by her school. Sihag added that she was saddened by the incidents of cruelty towards dogs and other animals. She said she believes humans should show more love to animals, especially as forests are disappearing and animals are losing their homes and food sources.
The young writer has expressed a desire to write more books on several topics in the future. While she dreams of becoming a pilot one day, her passion for writing and animals continues to grow.
Joyita’s father, Dr Abhishek Sihag, said his daughter had always loved writing. Seeing the plight of dogs in society moved her to write the book and encourage people to love and care for animals, he added.
