A MC spokesperson said on the third day on Sunday, stray cattle from Amardeep Colony, Red Square Market, Devi Bhawan, and the surrounding areas of Bhamashah Nagar were caught and sent to the cow sanctuary. During the drive in Amardeep Colony, two women tried to release the animals that were caught. When unsuccessful, they misbehaved with the team. An FIR will be lodged against them for misbehaviour, the spokesperson said.

Additional Municipal Commissioner Dr Pradeep Hooda said that if any resident or animal keeper tries to hinder the campaign, strict action will be taken under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and other provisions of law.

Popli has appealed to the residents not to provide green fodder on roads or streets. “Many gaushalas have placed vehicles on platforms where green fodder can be sent directly to them,” he said.
