A blood donation camp was organised at Dhani Sankari village in the district to mark the 25th martyrdom day of martyr army jawan Rajbir Singh who died during an encounter with the terrorist on June 25 in 2001 in the Gurez sector during ‘Operation Rakshak’ in Jammu and Kashmir.

Singh who was a Sepoy in the 17 Mahaar Regiment. He killed three terrorists before succumbing to bullet injuries during the encounter. At the blood donation camp, a total of 133 donors voluntarily donated blood, setting an example of service to humanity.

The camp was inaugurated by Subdivisional Magistrate (SDM) Rajesh Khoth, while the retired IAS officer Naresh Narwal presided over the event.

The SDM expressed his gratitude to the donors by gifting them saplings to promote the message of environmental conservation. He said blood donation was a noble deed that could save lives, and such events held in the memory of martyrs deepen the spirit of patriotism and service among the youth.

Villagers, representatives from social organisations, the medical team and a large number of locals were present on the occasion. The martyr’s father Mahabir Singh, along with other prominent persons Dharmvir Singh, Suresh Kumar, Rajesh Dhillon, Yashveer Dhillon, Raj Singh, Sunil Sihag, Yadavendra Singh, Manoj Kumar, Rajesh Yadav, and Ramniwas Garhi, were among many others from the region.
