15 birds hurt by kite string

Karnal: Fifteen birds were injured by glass-coated Chinese string and brought to Jivo Manglam, a birds’ care home run by an NGO in Sector-6. Their treatment is underway, said Sadhvi Archita, who was giving treatment to the birds along with a doctor. “Wings of four and throat of two birds were cut by the string,” she said. Protest against CAA in Faridabad

Faridabad: Hundreds of residents staged a protest and blocked traffic for four hours on Wednesday at Dhauj village in the district. They were protesting against the CAA. Over 500 protesters assembled on the main road connecting Pali and Sohna in the district. They demanded withdrawal of the CAA. They described it as “anti-Constitutional” and an “infringement” of the rights of citizens. TNS

Dr Chauhan is NDRI Director

Karnal: Dr Manmohan Singh Chauhan has joined as Director of National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) on Thursday. Chauhan is a renowned animal biotechnologist and has research experience in the field of animal biotechnology. He had developed world’s first buffalo cloned calf at the NDRI. Prior to this assignment, he was Director at Central Institute for Research on Goats, Makhdoom, Mathura. Dr RBB Singh, the outgoing Director, welcomed Dr Chauhan. TNS

Abhay flays BJP-JJP govt

Chandigarh: Ellenabad MLA Abhay Chautala on Thursday criticised BJP-JJP government for its failure to provide employment to state’s youth. In a statement issued here, Chautala alleged that unemployment rate was highest in the past 45 years. He said, “While, the state government has failed to provide jobs to the youths, its pre-poll promise of Rs 11,000 unemployment allowance per month is proving to be a false promise.” TNS
