157 disabled individuals get assistive equipment
A disability equipment distribution ceremony was held on Wednesday at the Multipurpose Hall of Chaudhary Devi Lal University (CDLU) in Sirsa.
Municipal Commissioner Yash Malik was the chief guest at the event.
District Red Cross Society Secretary Lal Bahadur Beniwal said the event was organised under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, through the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. The event was held in collaboration with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) and the General Insurance Corporation (GIC).
A total of 157 differently abled individuals benefited from the event, receiving assistive devices and equipment worth Rs 45.96 lakh under the GIC’s
CSR initiative.
The equipment distributed included 79 battery operated tricycles, 33 wheelchairs, 32 manual tricycles, one walking cane, 38 crutches, seven sticks, two rollators, eight hearing aids and ten artificial limbs and calipers.
Officials and employees from ALIMCO and the District Red Cross Society were among those present at
the event.
