16 DMs to verify Covid patients’ hospital bills
Karnal, May 1
District Magistrate Nishant Kumar Yadav on Saturday assigned duties to 16 duty magistrates (DMs) to verify the bills being charged from Covid-19 patients by the private hospitals.
They will check whether the bills were overcharged compared to the rates fixed by the government for the private hospitals. One duty magistrate has been deputed at one dedicated Covid private hospital.
“I have appointed 16 DMs at 16 private hospitals to ensure treatment to Covid patients,” said Yadav.
The DC, along with Civil Surgeon Dr Yogesh Sharma, inspected two private hospitals and inquired from the attendants of the patients about the bills being charged from them.
The DC also checked the usage of oxygen in both hospitals. One hospital did not maintain oxygen flow chart. He directed all the private hospitals to maintain chart so that the actual usage could be determined. “We are conducting oxygen audit of all hospitals so that the actual usage of oxygen could be determined. I have also asked all private hospitals to check their flow point to check the leakage, if any,” he said, adding that two agencies had been assigned for the supply of oxygen to all dedicated private hospitals and the KCGMC. “Our oxygen supply has been increased to 12 ton from 10 ton per day earlier. Presently, we have the sufficient supply, but in a couple of days, the supply would be more smooth,” said Yadav. — TNS
