16-year-old rape victim from Tohana village dies by suicide, 3 arrested

A 16-year-old rape survivor from a village in Tohana, Fatehabad, reportedly died by suicide after consuming pesticide on Sunday.

The minor, who was pregnant, was taken to the Tohana Civil Hospital where the foetus died on June 19. She was later referred to Agroha Medical College, where she died. The police have registered a case under the POCSO Act and arrested two men and a woman so far.

According to the police, DNA samples were being matched to identify the primary accused. The victim's family has alleged a gangrape. One of the arrested accused, Prinjal from Hisar, reportedly got in touch with the girl via Instagram. The second accused, Sahil, is a resident of Dhani Gopal in Fatehabad. The third, a woman neighbour, was arrested on Monday evening.
