160 participate in sports med meet

A conference on sports medicine is being organised by the Department of Sports Medicine and Sports Injury Centre of Rohtak-PGIMS in association with the Limb Reconstruction Society under the aegis of the Indian Association of Sports Medicine on August 24 and 25.

On the first day of the conference, various techniques of taping were demonstrated by physiotherapists Dr Vaibhav Daga and Dr Abhijit from Mumbai and Dr Avi from Chandigarh.

Dr Daga, who is associated with the IPL team, Lucknow, SuperGiants, demonstrated the practical knowledge of taping on various joints of the body and enriched the delegates from various parts of the country.

“Taping helps in relieving pain and swelling in musculo-skeletal injuries,” he maintained.

There was a special focus on knee and shoulder injuries and the role of the team physician in the management of sports injuries.

Dr Rajesh Rohilla, Senior Professor and head of the department of Sports Medicine, who was the organising chairman of the conference, said more than 50 faculty members and 160 participants attended the conference, which was coordinated by Dr Poonam Dhankhar.
