17 Rohtak officials skip poll duty, put on notice

Rohtak SDM-cum-Returning Officer Ashish Kumar has issued notices to as many as 17 officials found absent in the second round of training for the upcoming elections. The training was held on Friday and it was mandatory for all staff members to attend the same.

The RO has warned the absentee officials of strict action under the Representation of the People Act 1951, if they failed to turn up at Chhotu Ram Law Institute on Saturday.

As per the notice, the said employees have been deployed as polling officials by the Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer. They were instructed to participate in the training on September 20, but they failed to turn up. The RO has asked all 17 absentees to mark their presence at the training venue on Saturday to avoid action.
