An 18-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped in broad daylight from the Janakpuri area in the city on Tuesday by two men, with the help of another girl, who lured the victim downstairs from her house on the pretext of renting a room.
As per the victim’s family, a girl came to their house at around 11am looking for a room for rent. While the victim was speaking to this girl outside her house, two youths arrived, slapped her, and forced her into their vehicle.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Ganga Ram Punia confirmed that the family reported a kidnapping case. “We have registered a case and begun an investigation. Our crime investigation teams are working to trace the girl and apprehend the accused,” he said, adding that one suspect has been identified and multiple police teams are examining CCTV footage.
Eyewitnesses suspect that three people arrived in a black car. Of them, two men got out and overpowered the girl. “The victim resisted, but the men grabbed her by the neck, slapped her, and forced her into the car,” one eyewitness said.
