In a significant development within the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC), 19 of the 22 Independent members elected in the recent polls have united to form a new organisation, the Akal Panthak Morcha, in Kaithal. The group has claimed a majority and expressed its intent to lead the committee for the welfare of the Sikh community.
Prakash Singh Sahuwal, an Independent member from Nathusari Chopta, announced the formation of the Morcha after a meeting of its members. “Nineteen Independent members have come together on a single platform to work for the welfare of the Sikh community,” he said.
Sahuwal revealed that the Morcha had also gained the backing of six more members, raising its total strength to 25. “With this majority, we are confident in moving forward with our plans. Our next steps include co-opting nine additional members and appointing office bearers,” he stated.
He further emphasised the Morcha's commitment to unity and its focus on prioritising the interests of the Sikh community. “The organisation will ensure that the welfare of the community remains our top priority,” he added.
The meeting also served as a platform for members to outline their collective vision and future strategies.
